Single day race
The Beacons Ultra, Beacons Marathon and Beacons Half are a series of mixed trail/mountain/canal/road run around the magnificent Brecon Beacons in the middle of November, when climatic conditions can vary quite considerably. The race has taken place in everything from sparkling sunshine through to minus 8 degrees, with obligatory rain and mist thrown in to remind the athletes that they are running in Wales in all its glory.
The timing of the event being at the end of the prime UK ultra season means the event attracts a very mixed range of abilities, from multi-world record holders, to world champions through to those taking part in an ultrarun for the very first time and of course everyone in between. With three distances to choose from, ranging from 50 miles, 26 miles or 13 miles, the overriding atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming (although the competitive spirit in some can never die!). Whatever your ability, you will also be made extremely welcome by what is possibly the friendliest organisers and marshals anywhere on the planet.

The Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail 2026
SATURDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2026
STONOR PARK
Welcome to the Maverick Dark Oxfordshire Trail run. If you enjoy trail running in the daylight, then you are in for a real treat running in the dark! It's an amazing experience; your senses are heightened, you immerse yourself deep in the surroundings, with your head torch on, the trails streak past you at warp speed, and you concentrate on making that perfect foot placement so as not to take a tumble.
Starting and finishing in Stonor Park, which is split by the River Thames and nestled in the Chiltern Hills, this location can only be described as quintessential middle England. We love the Oxfordshire Trail race, so it was only fitting that we experience this area at night. The 3 routes are all set in the estate which is home to fallow deer and wallabies... yep, we have actually seen a wallaby there! All the routes are relatively challenging, and with 3 to choose from, there is something for everyone. Please note, there is no outpost on the Short route.
Make sure you end the season strong and put this Dark Series event in your calendar as it's going to be a corker!....... And remember - The Darkness Awaits...
Unfortunately, you will not be able to take part with your dog during our Dark Series events.

Remembrance Run is back to Ferry Meadows
Ferry Meadows is one of the largest country parks in the region. Situated less than three miles from Peterborough City Centre, at the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it the favourite destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.
Remembrance Run is a 6-hour event (if you have a 9 am start) or a 4-hour event (if you 11 am start), run as far as you can during the six hours and a little bit more if you're lucky, as long as you are leaving the Base Camp by 5:59:59 you get to run another lap, we have a 5.3k lap throughout the forest consisting of gravel footpaths and some grass areas - a multi-terrain course.
You can run as much or as little as you want to, you can rest between laps if you like and head out for some more.
A heavy half marathon as standard will be 5 laps (but there is the option to change this on the day to 6 or 7). An ultra marathon as standard will be 9 laps (but there is the option to increase this, according to time available e.g. upto 12 laps)
You may be completing your first official 5k,10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon or even ultra-marathon, or it may be your 100th or 1000th.
This race is also ideal for those who want to try and achieve a Marathon distance and for those who also want the option to push a little further, possibly an ultra but without the complications of trail ultras, with next to no navigation, no kit required, an aid station every lap and straightforward logistics.
Parking is chargeable at the park. From the toilets and the parking payment machines, you will see our start arch and gazebos.
On the day
We will be based in the Lakeside Centre on the Watersports side of the park.
You will see our Zig Zag Gazebos from the car park. Head towards the gazebos and then you will see the Lakeside Centre where registration will be based. At registration you will collect your bib numbers.
The Race HQ/Base Camp is located at the start and Lap point we will have our water/aid station.
The terrain consists of country park footpaths and grass areas. Our suggestion is to wear road trainers, but depending on the weather before the event you may want to bring trails if you have them but not essential.
We have designed a Bespoke medal for the event, which you will receive at the end of the race. (Unless you have chosen the Finisher Medal Option. You will receive a medal but it will not be specific to the event)
We will have virtual spaces available for anyone who wants the run for the medal but cannot make the event date. These are available direct from the shop on our Zig Zag Running website.
