A typical 5K time ranges from 20 to 40 minutes depending on fitness level. Beginners usually complete a 5K in 30–40 minutes, while experienced runners may finish in under 25 minutes.
Is a 5K good for beginners?
Yes — the 5K (3.1 miles) is the most popular beginner race distance. Many people train for their first 5K using Couch to 5K programmes, which take around 9 weeks.
How much do 5K events cost?
Entry fees for UK 5K events typically range from free (parkrun) to £15–£30 for organised timed races. Charity and themed events may charge more.

We’ll be heading back to the lovely Rosliston Forest again in for a stomp around in the mud with our special short format.
The runs will be a little shorter than usual, only 4 hours long on a 4km loop, but you can still expect the full Rasselbock experience on the day! You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full four hours, or you may choose to finish just one, either way, you will be a finisher and receive your bespoke medal* when you tap out.
If you're after the Rasselbock love and care, but everything on a smaller scale with fewer runners around then this has to be the event for you.
