Half Marathon Events

A truly special race that not only takes in many of Bath's beautiful attractions, but also has the longest underground section for each race distance in the UK! Cutting right under the city of the Bath, the two tunnels offer a truly unique running experience. The Somerset & Dorset Railway closed in 1966 and until April 2013, the tunnels had been sealed and inaccessible. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Two Tunnels Group and Sustrans over a period of 7 years, the two tunnels now have a new lease of life as a shared use path. The first tunnel, the Devonshire Tunnel is 408m long and the second tunnel, Combe Down Tunnel is 1672m long. Both tunnels are well lit and well surfaced and have recently been converted into a shared use path for the enjoyment of runners, walkers and cyclists looking to make the most of the city whilst remaining on flatter ground. With 2 different half marathons, 2 different 10kms, 5km, 2km and 500m Colourburst races there are events for all the family, and if they are not taking part, bring your friends and family to cheer you on. Our start and finish is at Brickfields Park in the middle of the city which also has a children's play ground and is a great spot to sit and enjoy a picnic after the race. We are very happy to be supporting the ongoing work of Sustrans in maintaining the Two Tunnels by contributing £1 per runner to their charity. The Chippenham Half Marathon is run over a fast, accurately measured and predominantly flat course starting and finishing at our club base Chippenham Sports Club. The route will go through the centre of Chippenham and then follow scenic country lanes visiting local villages and hamlets including Tytherton Lucas, East Tytherton, Avon and Langley Burrell. This event is ideal for first timers or experienced long distance runners looking to achieve a personal best. Full course details can be found here. The course has been measured and certified as accurate by an accredited course measurer. The Chippenham Half Marathon is licenced by Run Britain.

Back again in 2026, the original Epic Trail Ruck sponsored by GORUCK! With some testing climbs, rolling terrain and amazing views of the surrounding areas - the Ashton Court route is exactly what the Epic Trail Ruck Series is all about - challenging yourself and using your fitness to explore some stunning locations. As with all of our Epic Trail Ruck events, you can customize your entry and race it your way! Which Distance? 6K - with an elevation gain of 152m, shorter doesn't definitely doesn't mean easier! Take on our speedy 6k route that takes you through all of the best Ashton Court Trails. 10K - the original event distance and a route that represents everything we love about trail running & rucking. This route boasts 201m of elevation gain and is packed with speedy woodland descents, lung-busting climbs, undulating gravel tracks & plenty more to keep you guessing! New for this year - Half Marathon - Take on two laps of the 10k route, plus an extra section to bring you up to the full 21.1km distance. Perfect for those looking to complete their first trail half marathon, or for experienced runners who love the challenge of longer distances! _____________________ GORUCK are our official partners for this series. Every participant in the Pro Ruck or Open Ruck categories will get to use their industry-leading Rucker 4.0 backpack at the event. _____________________ Rucking or Trail Running? As with all Epic Trail Series events, there are four ways to take on either Bristol Epic route: 1. Pro Ruck: Competitive rucking over either distance with our heaviest weighted option (25lbs / 11.3kg for men, 15lbs / 6.8kg for women - backpack & weight provided on the day). 2. Pro Trail: Competitive trail running over either distance - push the pace against fellow runners. 3. Open Ruck: Non-competitive rucking with a lighter backpack (15lbs / 6.8kg for men, 10lbs / 4.5kg for women - backpack & weight provided on the day). 4. Open Trail: Non-competitive trail running - just you versus the trail.

The Bath & Bristol Railway Races follow the route of the original train line from Green Park Station in Bath to Bristol Temple Meads and this route is the flattest of all the races in our calendar! The route is 100% tarmac, offering a road race like experience through the green countryside and into the heart of Bristol. The trainline was in use from 1869 - 1971 and between 1979 and 1986, Sustrans converted the railway path into whatwould become the first route on the National Cycle Network. Along the route you will find historic and active nods to the routes heritage. The Half Marathon runs out and back to Bitton Train Station, with 2.5km in each direction running alongside the Avon Valley Railway, an active heritage line that still runs on the original route today. The 25km, Marathon and 50km run alongside the Avon Valley Railway station at Bitton and onwards to Bristol, passing restored signal boxes, picturesque stations at Warmley and Mangotsfield. The 450m long Staple Hill Tunnel is on the route of the 25km, Marathon and 50km race. It is significantly larger than the tunnels at the Two Tunnels and Wye Valley Tunnel Run as the route had two railway lines running through the tunnel. The Staple Hill Tunnel is well lit.

The Maverick Jurassic Coast Trail 2026 SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER 2026 CORFE Set in the home of Maverick Race, we are excited to offer you five trail routes that will take you on an invigorating adventure around the Isle of Purbeck and along part of the 95-mile stretch of the famous Jurassic Coast. Our three routes start just outside the picturesque village of Corfe Castle, where you’ll then run steadily across marshland, gradually making your way towards the coast. The Ultra and Half Marathon routes will pass the epic Old Harry's Rocks and traverse along coastal ridge-lines via the Purbeck Way. Our Ultra route will take you right down to the tip of the Purbecks, past Winspit Quarry, before reaching the notorious steps at St. Aldhelm's Head. You'll cruise along the Hardy Way and catch a glimpse of Corfe Castle as you descend across Knowle Hill. The finish line is nearing, and you can almost hear the sound of the Maverick cowbells ringing you home... We are so excited to welcome you to where Maverick Race started, and the trails that inspired us to get outdoors and start exploring. We can’t wait to share our favourite paths, hills and views with you, knowing you’ll be stunned and challenged in equal measure. Whether you are brand new to trail running or have run many times before, with five distances to choose from, there is something for all levels. Please note that there is no outpost on the Short route. There aren’t views in the UK quite like the Jurassic Coast, and no one does trail running events quite like us, so join us in October. Stroud Half Marathon is a great event for a super fast time.  It is suitable for racers, recreational runners and novices alike The race starts and finishes on Cainscross Road, adjacent to Marling School playing field. Car parks are situated around Stroud (some of them are free of charge on a Sunday)  Maximum walk time is approximately 10-15 minutes.  Sat Nav Postcodes - Cheapside Carpark (by Station) - GL5 3BL Cainscross Carpark - GL5 4JQ London Road - GL5 2AP. EVENT PACERS The RaceNation Events volunteer pacers will be present to help you get around the course in a certain time, they will be easily recognisable wearing pacer flags.  Feel free to have a chat with them before the race if you are hoping to stick with them, they’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. The pacer times are 1hr 30mins / 1hr 45mins / 2hrs / 2hrs 15mins / 2hrs 30mins / 2hrs 45mins USING HEADPHONES WHILST RUNNING UKA Rule T55 S5 permits the use of bone conducting headphones only.  For this event we WILL allow the use of Bone Conducting Headphones, but we will NOT allow the use of in ear headphones or those that are not bone conducting. The Event Organisers will have no responsibility should this rule be ignored. Please do not risk our ability to be granted a future licence.   Runners seen to be wearing in-ear/ non bone conducting headphones will be disqualified by the Event Organisers.

The Maverick Dark Castle Trail 2026 - Friday FRIDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2026 CORFE CASTLE Back for its fourth year, and due to popular demand we have added a Friday evening run! The Maverick Dorset Dark Trail has become one of the most unique Maverick events in our calendar! We are extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to race from the iconic Corfe Castle, so this is the perfect opportunity for anyone wishing to check out the ruins up close. Soaring above the village of Corfe, the early Norman castle is an unforgettable sight. Corfe Castle was built in the reign of William the Conqueror to control passage through the Purbeck Hills via a road between Swanage and Wareham. There was a fortress at this spot long before the Normans; however, there may have been a Roman military presence here, and certainly there was a wooden palisade here as early as the 9th century. As you leave the stone bridge and head down through the beautiful village of Corfe, you find yourself heading across Corfe Common and towards the quaint village of Church Knowle, before heading up onto the ridge at Knowle Hill with sweeping views across Purbeck. You will see the lights of Poole Harbour in the distance and the glow of Corfe Castle to your right. The Long and Middle routes continue along the ridge to Stone Hill Down, before meandering through some tight single track towards the famous Blue Poole. The trails here are muddy and tight, making the Darkness feel exhilarating. These sections of woodland and open heath are home to herds of Sika deer, so don't be alarmed if your head torch shines on lots of eyes watching you from the woodland. The trail conditions on this route are going to be soft & muddy during the month of November, but there are a few sections of the route that are hard-packed or on road. Regardless, the routes are suitable for all levels of runner. There will be hot food and drink back at the venue, fire pits for roasting marshmallows and a real festive vibe. We really hope you will join us for this fantastic event. Please note this is NOT a dog-friendly event, we are unable to have dogs within the event venue.

The Maverick Exmoor X-Trail 2027 SATURDAY 1 MAY 2027 | CAFFYNS FARM, LYNTON The Maverick Exmoor returns in 2027 to deliver one of the UK's most spectacular—and demanding—trail running experiences. Set within the wild beauty of Exmoor National Park, this is trail running at its rawest. Towering sea cliffs, relentless climbs, ancient woodland, remote valleys, and sweeping moorland create a route as breathtaking as it is brutal. If you seek comfort, this isn't for you. If you seek adventure, welcome to Exmoor. With five route options from 5km to the 50k Ultra, there is a challenge for every level, but Exmoor earns its reputation. Climb steepness, technical descents, and rugged terrain demand respect from start to finish. Starting at Caffyns Farm near Lynton, the routes quickly join the legendary South West Coast Path. Dramatic cliffs open to vast views across the Bristol Channel toward South Wales. The coastline feels untamed—rugged, exposed, and beautiful—with seabirds overhead and Atlantic winds nearby. A highlight is the Valley of Rocks, famous for towering formations and wild feral goats, a place unlike anywhere else in the UK. But the coast is only part of the story. The routes then sweep inland through some of the National Park’s most magical hidden corners - following fast-flowing rivers, weaving through ancient woodland, and passing waterfalls tucked deep within the valleys. The constantly changing terrain keeps you fully engaged, with every turn revealing another unforgettable view or another savage climb waiting ahead. This is not a race you simply “tick off.” It’s one you experience. Whether you take on the Short route, tackle the Marathon, or commit fully to the Ultra, Exmoor promises big elevation, huge scenery, and the kind of challenge that stays with you long after the finish line. And when the running is done, there’s no need to rush away. Make a full weekend of it by camping onsite at Caffyns Farm and soaking up the atmosphere with fellow runners in one of the most unique event locations on the Maverick calendar.
