Blacksheep 3 and 6 Hour Challenge

Get ready for an unforgettable day of running at the Blacksheep 3 and 6 Hour Challenge, taking place on Sunday, July 11, 2027, in the picturesque town of Masham, North Yorkshire. Organized by It's Grim Up North Running, this unique event invites runners to take on the challenge of completing as many loops as possible within a six-hour window, all while enjoying the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Dales. Choose between a three-hour or six-hour race, where you can embrace the thrill of the distance at your own pace. Participants will run on a combination of trail and road terrain, featuring a flat(ish) course with one steady climb. The event promises plenty of support with feed stations located every three miles, as well as a friendly atmosphere complete with bespoke medals, treats for all finishers, and even a refreshing drink and sausage sandwich (with vegetarian and alcohol-free options available) waiting for you at the finish line. Set on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales, Masham play host to both the Black Sheep Brewery and the Grim Up North Six hour Challenge.   YOU DON’T HAVE TO RUN FOR SIX HOURS!   The event gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself running as many loops as you can in the six hour window, before ringing the bell and collecting your medal, a beer and a sausage sandwich (Alcohol free and Veggie options)   There is also a three hour option on the race   What's included Elevation: Flat(ish) (one steady climb) Terrain: trail and road - stiles Feed/drink stations every 3 miles Marshalled and signed course. Toilets are available at the town market square   Getting to us: We are based near Masham Sports club Registration: What 3 words ///shot.invoices.beefed By Car: There will be parking on the field. £5 parking fee is applicable for charitable causes within Masham, please have the correct money.   Distances and times:   Registration Opens from 8am – please allow yourself 1/2 hour to park, register and use the loos. Our races are licenced from the Trail Running Association under UKA rules   All Runs start at 9:00am   During the race important things to note: We try to be cup-less: Our feed stations are normally around every three miles and offer drinks and a range of food but please bring your own re-usable cup or bottle.   Headphones: Most of our courses are off road but we still prefer you not to wear earphones and due to oncourse incidents, we have taken the decision to ban large over ear headphones. These block out any other sounds and don't allow runners to hear marshals, vehicles or other users of the route. If you do need to wear earphones, then please use bone conducting earphones or "one in one out" in ear pieces. Please note, there may will be unmarshalled road crossings.   Know your route: We offer downloadable GPX files for our routes. Our routes are mainly off road and not every corner or junction will have a marshal. Please ensure you have a version of the route to help you navigate.   Withdrawal: If you need to withdraw during an event please let the nearest marshal know. In certain circumstances we allow runners to drop distances during an event. Please speak to the timers or RD at the end of your run.   Transfers/Deferrals: You can self-serve your transfer or deferral either on this website or “Let’s Do This” depending on where you booked. Please try not to change your event or details on the day as it causes delays and queues at registration.   We no longer mail out a race brief as most of the information is here on the website however we advise you to visit our FAQ section and join the “Grim Up North Chat” group on Facebook which will help with any other questions you have.
