The Lucky Horseshoe - 5k, 10k, Half, Full or Ultra Marathon

Get ready for an exhilarating day of running at The Lucky Horseshoe, organized by Zig Zag Running! Taking place on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, in the charming town of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, this event offers a fantastic range of race distances to suit every runner's goal. Whether you're looking to conquer a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, or even an Ultra Marathon, there’s a challenge awaiting you! Starting bright and early at 9 AM, participants will enjoy a mass start and a scenic out-and-back route on the picturesque Gallops Route. As you run, you may even catch a glimpse of racehorses in training! With a generous seven-hour cutoff, you can set your own pace, and enjoy aid stations offering drinks and snacks every 10k. Plus, every finisher will receive a bespoke medal to commemorate their achievement, with the option for a lucky dip finisher medal for a fun twist! Don't forget, this event is cupless, so be sure to bring your own bottles or cups for refilling. Join us for a memorable day of camaraderie and running in beautiful Suffolk!

The Lucky Horseshoe  Come and join us at our exclusive venue at Suffolk Running Centre, Church Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5AX It's a seven-hour cut off with a mass start at 9am Your race, your pace, your distance!     This race offers you a number of distance choices - 5k, 10k, Half, Full or Ultra     This route is an out and back, making it a very social route.     The marathon will be one full loop (out and back), and all other distances will have turnaround points.      We will be utilising the Gallops Route (for ALL routes) meaning there will be a turn point for all distances under the Ultra.  If you plan to do the Ultra you will run the full out and back marathon route and then run back out to the 5k or 10k turn. If doing over the half marathon distance, the route takes you through to Newmarket to the Gallops you may get to see the race horses in training There will be an aid station of drinks and nibbles every 10k. Parking is also included in your entry price.      The Race HQ/Base Camp is located at the start and Lap point and at the base camp we will have our water/aid station. We have designed a Bespoke medal for the event, which you will receive at the end of the race.   Or if you choose the lucky dip finisher option (if available), you will choose from a selection of previous or finisher medal. Please note the event has gone cupless - so please bring your own bottles or cups for refilling.
