About this event

Phoenix Running Cambridgeshire would love you to join us for a pre Christmas run around the beautiful Riverside Park in St Neots. To get you in the Christmas spirit, I'm sure we'll have plenty of festive treats on our aid station to keep you going. Every finisher will also receive our beautiful sparkly snowflake medal. This is one of our timed events where you choose - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back course around Regatta Meadow, Riverside Park and the River Great Ouse in St Neots. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal. We also operate our uniquely flexible 'rock up and run' start times within a 1 hour start window, so no waiting around if you arrive early and no added pressure if you're running a bit late. Whilst Phoenix Running is very much about the bling and our medals are second to none, we're also acutely conscious that events can be expensive to enter and times are tough right now. We're now in our 9th year of fixed prices for our standard themed events, but to try and do our bit we're trailing a 'no medal' entry option at a flat £22. We cover our base costs, you get a run with all the usual Phoenix support, epic aid station, same day results published, athletes profiles, Phoenix World, digital BIBs, digital finishers certificates, etc, etc but without a medal we can keep the price low for this entry option. Not sure? Well the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right. Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter. Start anytime between 08:00am and 09:00am (registration open from 7.30am). Minimum distance is 3.28 miles or as far as you can go in 6 hours. Tarmac cycle paths and small section of gravel path. The overall course has minimal elevation gain / loss making this a relatively flat and fast route. Please note, as per UK Athletics rules, distance restrictions apply to participants ages 20 or under, for more information please read our full terms & conditions available here - https://www.phoenixrunning.co.uk/tandc We provide a physical running service and by entering our events you are purchasing an actual run, either by attending our events or by running the event virtually yourself. All participants in our events, both attended and virtual, will receive a free giveaway medal / memento from your run.

The course

All runners begin with the River Great Ouse on their left hand side and run along the footpath, following the arrows. You’ll run around Regatta Meadow and then go under the underpass by the car park and carry on into Riverside Park. The route is fully signposted, but basically just keep going straight unless an arrow tells you otherwise. After about 1.55km or 0.96 miles you exit the park. Run up the road for 20 meters and go through a kissing gate on your left hand side. This takes you into a field where you run diagonally through it, following the cut grass path. You’ll go round the pond and through a second kissing gate. You’ll then go through a small wooded area, before coming out and finding the turning point. At 2.65km, or 1.64 miles you will reach the turning point, which is just before a large bridge to your left. The turn point is well signed with a large yellow sign on the left of the path telling you to ‘turn around’ – please go all the way to the turn point before turning back on each lap. You then simply turn at the turn point and retrace your steps, exactly. Again, full signposted for your return. Get back to the aid station and that’s it, that is 1 complete lap. The overall course has no elevation gain or drop making this a flat and fast route. Well, except for the 2 kissing gates either end of the field. Please take care going through the gates.
