About this event
All abilities, ages and speeds are welcome in the award winning, sell-out MBNA Chester 10K. It's Chester's only city-based 10K, it's the best City Centre 10K in the North West and is the first event of the Chester Triple Series (enter and finish our 10K & Marathon or Metric Marathon in the same year for extra special, extra large and extra gold medal). Join us for what will be an amazing day. The MBNA Chester 10K is a great introductory race for new runners and an ideal stepping stone for runners aiming for a half marathon in the future. The race has an unforgettable and unbeatable atmosphere. The event boasts a lively city centre start and finish, with a route that passes many of Chester's iconic landmarks. This fast course starts from Nuns Road next to the iconic Chester Racecourse and heads north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace, then passing close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre passing the historic Victorian town hall and Medieval Cathedral, before finishing on Eastgate Street with a spectacular backdrop of the Eastgate Clock. The course
The fast course starts from Chester Racecourse and heads north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace. Runners will then pass close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre and finishing outside the historic Victorian Town Hall and Medieval Cathedral.

Parking will be on the open course at Chester Racecourse for a small fee (weather permitting). There are also many car parks within the city and a short walk to Chester Racecourse.

FAQs
How do I get my race pack?
For those with a non-UK address your pack will be available for collection on race day at the help desk. For UK runners we will post out entries that are completed in time. Late entries will be able to collect their race numbers from Help Desk during race week.
Is there a cut off time? Is there a minimum standard?
Chester 10K is a running event and for runners' safety the roads are closed by permission of the council. The race cut off time is 90 minutes after your race start. Roads will re-open in line with this pace. If you fall behind this pace, for your own safety you may be asked to withdraw from the race and get into the sweep bus. Times for runners who finish over the cut off will not be listed on the final results.
Can I wear an iPod or music player?
Under UK Athletics rules, on any road which is not wholly closed to traffic only "open ear" bone conduction headphones are permitted. This means that in-ear headphones can't be used in the Chester Marathon and Metric Marathon. For the Chester Half Marathon and the Chester 10K, in-ear headphones can be used. Please leave one out so you can hear the sounds around you, including warnings from marshals or blue light vehicles on the course. Therefore we recommend "open ear" bone conduction headphones for enjoyment and safety.
Can I run with a buggy or a dog?
No, it is not possible to run with a buggy, or with a dog. This is against UK Athletics rules and you will be withdrawn from the course and disqualified.
How far apart are the drinks stations?
There will be a water station at approximately half way and water for all runners at the finish.
Where are the toilets?
There will be ample toilets at the start, all clearly signed. There will also be toilets at every drink station and at the finish.
Is there a baggage store?
There will be a baggage store at Chester Racecourse, which will be open between 8:00 and 11:30.
