Run The Lake Walk around the lake – do your best & face the challenge. Run this marathon route, which is unique in Europe, around Lake Wörthersee. The Wörthersee Marathon is varied. On the south bank the first 21 km to Velden are hilly, from then on flat and fast. Part of the World Athletics Global Calendar from the organisers of the Vienna City Marathon Walk The Lake Walk the Lake. A lake. A day. Your marathon. The destination at the Klagenfurt lido remains for you until 6:00 p.m open – including timing. So you have 9 hours time, to circumnavigate Lake Wörthersee. Take advantage of this special chance to experience the lake at your own pace: Run slowly or walk the lake – Walking is also expressly welcome. Enjoy every kilometre, every view, every moment.

Getting there
Participants from outside Carinthia can easily reach Klagenfurt by train or long-distance bus. Klagenfurt am Wörthersee Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) is centrally located and boasts excellent connections to the national and international transport network, with direct links including Vienna, Salzburg, Graz, Munich, and Ljubljana. You can find up-to-date information on timetables, tickets and route planning as well as in the Klagenfurt mobile app and the Carinthia mobile app. Lake Wörthersee itself connects several communities along its shores. These locations are well connected by regional trains, buses and cycle paths - perfect for participants, accompanying persons and spectators. Please plan your arrival well in advance. Road closures and detours may occur on race day, so we recommend: public transportation on foot or by bike Arrival by car Parking spaces will be available around the Klagenfurt lido area. E-scooters & bicycles E-scooters and bicycles may not be parked in the start and finish area. Please use the designated parking areas outside the event zones.
