This year, BigMud celebrates the essence of Earth with three fantastic single-lap courses that will put your endurance to the test as you tackle the rolling hills and muddy trails, including a climb up the iconic Butser Hill. BigMud  - Classic Element Trail Series   SUNDAY 21st FEBRUARY 2027   For those of you who like your trail running Feats to be BIG, we give to you the Classic Element Trail Series. Four trail running events based on the 4 classic elements…. Earth,  Water,  Fire  and  Air. Whether it's clawing over muddy hills and rainy valleys (Earth), battling over an ancient rugged coastline (Water), Pushing on under a relentless sun (Fire) or running under a never-ending sky (Air),  BigFeat Events have developed a series of races that will Challenge you, Awaken you and Inspire you.   Inspired by the Classic Element  Earth, we bring you... BigMud!   DESCRIPTION Back for our sixth year, these spectacular but challenging courses return! The 1st event in the Classic Element Trail Series, BigMud symbolises the element Earth. We have 3 wild ‘n’ muddy, single lap trail runs around the scenic Meon Valley. You’ll have a choice of 50Km Ultramarathon, Marathon or 16 mile distances, each starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire, with a 518ft climb up to the highest point in the South Downs, Butser Hill……. twice! Once at the top, you will then head out over the trails and rolling hills of the South Downs National Park, with the finish back where you started at the bottom of Butser Hill. This event will certainly challenge you but the spectacular scenery and friendly, encouraging atmosphere will leave you with an enormous feeling of accomplishment!   LOCATION Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Gravel Hill, Horndean, PO8 0QE   DISTANCE& PRICES 16 Miles - £44 Marathon - £56 50K Ultramarathon - £65 WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT CANICROSS ENTRIES AT THIS EVENT   REGISTRATION  Collect Race Bibs from Registration on event day Marathon - 7.45am - 8.15am Ultramarathon - 7.45am - 8.15am 16 Mile - 8:15am - 8:45am You will not be able to collect 16 Mile bibs before 8:15am   START TIME 16 Mile - 9:00am Marathon - 8.30am Ultramarathon - 8:30   MANDATORY KIT All runners will be required to carry at least 500ml of fluid with them. Most will have hydration vests but handheld soft flasks will be permitted. As weather is changeable, especially in winter, runners are advised to also wear (and carry) appropriate clothing for the conditions. We also strongly advise runners to download the GPX file of the route onto a wearable watch or mobile device. Although this is a marked course event, arrows can be tampered with, so a good understanding of the route is advisable.   BAG DROP A bag drop tent will be available on the day.   CUT OFF TIMES 16 mile - 5 hours Marathon - 7.5 hours Ultramarathon - 8.5 hours   AID STATIONS 16 Mile - At 7.6 and 12.2 miles Marathon - At 6, 14.3, 18.2 and 22.8 miles Ultramarathon - At 6, 12, 19, 22.9 and 27.5 miles All Aid Stations are well stocked and will have a selection of sweet and savoury snacks, with vegan options available. Water and flat coke are also provided. Please remember that we are a cupless event company.   PRECISION FUEL & HYDRATION We are very proud to have partnered with Precision Fuel & Hydration for our Classic Element Trail Series events. Each Aid Station will be stocked with PH 1000 electrolyte liquid  Runners can collect 2 x PFH Gels at registration PH 1000, is a low-cal electrolyte drink designed to help you hit your fluid and sodium numbers. It delivers 1,000mg of sodium per litre, which is about what the average athlete loses per litre of sweat. A selection of energy products and snacks will sit alongside PH 1000 on-course to help you hit your carb targets. “Decoupling” your fueling and hydration can be beneficial during longer endurance races, as you can adjust each one as needed. *  Low-cal drink delivering 1000mg of sodium per litre *  Mild citrus flavour to avoid flavour-fatigue *  Served pre-mixed  LEARN MORE HERE   EVENT T-SHIRTS Classic Element Trail Series T-Shirts are available to Pre-Order only. These can then be collected from Event HQ on the day of the event. The T-Shirt order will be placed 6 weeks before the date of this event.  Any T-Shirt purchases made after this date will be available to collect at a future event.   TREES NOT TEES We work with the Trees Not Tees organization. Runners can opt to have a tree planted instead of receiving a finishers medal.
