About this event

Phoenix Running South Wales invites you to join us for an adventure with Alice in Runderland on Saturday 12th September 2026. Where will your run take you? This is one of our timed events where you choose how far to go - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course through Parc Taf Bargoed, a Green Flag park offering visitors access to an area of exquisite beauty and spectacular views shaped by the area's industrial past and recent redevelopment. We welcome runners and walkers alike. Complete one lap, and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 7-hour time . Everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers medal. We operate our uniquely flexible rock up and run start times, so there is no waiting around if you arrive early and no added pressure if you're running a bit late. If you have any special start time requirements, get in touch, and depending on the distance you plan to run, we will try to accommodate all start time requests. Not sure?  Well, the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right. Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter. The course

The route is primarily on tarmac with a short section on riverside trail. The route starts adjacent to the coal cart statue and follows the path straight, past the lakes, keep going straight until you reach the turnaround point. On the way back you will take a left turn over a bridge, follow the wiggly path until you join the trail with the river on your right hand side. Once back at the lakes keep them on the right until you reach the end, cross the bridge, then turn left and make your way back to the Summit Centre.

Getting there

Heading north to Bedlinog follow the brown tourist signs for the Climbing Centre.

Parking

For your sat nav use CF46 6RD. You can park at the Summit Centre rear car park which is free. We request that you consider car sharing wherever possible to allow Summit Centre customers to also park. ///magical.reference.sandwich

FAQs

What time does it start?

We offer flexible start times, simply come to the start area when you are ready to run and we will get you going.

What is available at the aid station?

We have a selection of jelly sweets and chocolate, cakes and biscuits as well as savoury snacks such as pretzels and crisps. Vegan and gluten free options are clearly marked. Drinks include water, different flavour squash, and cola. Note: we are a cupless event - please bring your own reusable cup or drinks bottle that we can refill for you

Where is bag drop?

There is no official bag drop but you are welcome to leave a small bag at race HQ at your own risk and these will be easily accessible to you throughout the event. Please leave valuables in your car or take them with you on your run.

How many laps for my distance?

One lap is measured to be 3.28 miles, just over 5km. Two laps is 6.56 miles, just over 10km. Four laps is 13.1 miles, half marathon. Eight laps is 26.2 miles, marathon distance. Nine or more laps is an ultramarathon.

Is there a cut off?

All participants must be finished by 3.30pm
