Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate 10k / 5k & Junior 3k

Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate 10k, 5k & Junior 3k, taking place on Sunday, 13th December 2026, at the beautiful Derwent Country Park in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear! Organised by Run Nation, this festive event promises a delightful mix of challenge and cheer, as participants navigate a scenic 10k trail race on a variety of surfaces—perfect for runners of all abilities. The 10k race features two loops, while the 5k offers a single loop option, both starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre, where parking is available. Don't forget the little ones! The Junior 3k invites young runners to participate in a fun out-and-back course, also starting and finishing at the visitor centre. As you enjoy the thrill of the race, you’ll be rewarded with warm hot chocolate to keep the spirits high during the chilly winter day. Run Nation is pleased to present our warm winter hot chocolate race at Derwent Country Park in 2026. 10k trail race on a mix of surfaces but ideal for all abilities - just finish before the sun goes down! Set in the picturesque Derwenthaugh Country Park, Gateshead; The 10k run is on paved footpaths and tracks in the park and is mostly flat, making it suitable for all abilities. The 10k takes in 2 loops of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available. The 5k takes in 1 loop of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available. The junior 3k takes in one 3km out and back of the park, starting and finishing near the Swalwell visitor centre with parking available. Due to UKA Rules and insurance, we cannot permit runners to wear in ear headphones, run with prams or dogs.
