About this event
This page is for day Twoof the weekend event Back again in 2027 to kick off the new year with a weekender, back where it all started! As always the event will be a six-hour challenge on a looped course around the beautiful forest which is looked after by the UK Forestry Commission. You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full six hours, or you may choose to finish just one, either way, you will be a finisher and receive your bespoke medal. The aim of our events is to organize races as if I were taking part, so you can expect amazing support, the best medals and goodies, and a smaller group of runners. Think of it as a small group of friends and family all coming together for an amazing day of running! You may attempt to complete as many laps as possible over the full six hours, or you may choose to finish just one, the choice is yours and you don't have to decide how far you're running until you're running! The loop at Sherwood Pines is exactly 6.168km long which means if you complete 4 laps you have covered a half marathon, 7 laps, a full marathon and 8 laps or more will be classed as an Ultra. At Rasselbock we like to put on events how we'd like to have them. No stress, pressure, a great bunch of runners, and a small entry pool so everyone can meet each other. You can decide on the day how far you'd like to run so there are no worries if you're having a "bad running day". Just complete one lap of the event and you're classed as a finisher. No set distance, just go!

The course
The route sets off from our own dedicated Race HQ area as we head into the forest weaving through the Pines. The route is on a mixed trail of forest floor, muddy areas, and packed gravel paths. Enough of a mix to keep the laps interesting. There are some hills included in the route for free, but nothing that you cannot manage.
Getting there
The nearest train stations are Mansfield and Retford. Mansfield has a public bus to the county park roughly every 15 minutes (Bus No. 14, 15 or 15A to Archway Road or Sherwood Pines). This does vary at the weekend and it is always best to check the timetables before booking. After the bus, there is around a 1-mile walk into the forest to the start line. Usually, on a Sunday morning, it is best to pre-book a taxi to the start line. If you are staying overnight before the event and using public transport, then I would recommend looking at places to stay in Edwinstone, Clipstone, or Ollerton. All are a very short taxi ride from the forest.
Parking
There is a large car park with Sherwood Pines Forest which we are permitted to use. There is a charge for the car park which we, unfortunately, cannot offer a discount on. As always we encourage people to car share or use public transport as much as possible when coming to our events. Not only does this mean we help the environment a little but it also means that people get to know each other a little more and you can share the costs of petrol and the car park! If you are looking for a lift or have space in your car, then make sure you post in our Team Rasselbock Facebook group to see who else is heading that way.
